LAZO fomenta diálogo entre artistas que trabajan en Nueva York y en ciudades de América Latina. | LAZO fosters dialogue among artists working in New York and in Latin American cities.
March 2nd - March 12th Opening Reception: March 2nd 6-8pm The Loisaida Center, 710 E 9th Street, NYC
LAZO is pleased to present ANALEMMA, a group show bringing together five artists: Javier Bosques, Alva Mooses, Mauricio Cortes Ortega, Sofía Shaula, and Ana Vaz. The artworks propose different perspectives about mapping, tracking, and journeying, mediums range from 16mm narrative filmmaking shot in Brazil, to prints made with pulverized volcanic stone, and simple systems of tensed yarn, wire and concrete. The mechanisms and functions are uncomplicated, yet the employment of materials present complex ideologies on the delineation of space. The title and word analemma refers to a diagram that shows the various positions of a celestial body over time, as seen from a fixed location on Earth.
Curated by LAZO in collaboration with Javier Bosques, artist and co-director of Produce Model in Chicago.
